Choosing the Right Vehicle for Your Business: Molly Maid in the News – August 2011
Choosing the Right Vehicle for Your Business
Meg Roberts, Vice President of Marketing at Service Brands International, the parent company of the Molly Maid franchise, was interviewed by John Brandon of Inc.com on how to choose the right vehicle for your business.
Roberts says business owners should go with a practical approach: does the car have enough storage capacity? What will be the cost of operating the vehicle? She says it is important to match your actual business needs with the car features.
Next, she says to think about branding. Molly Maid cars use pink detailing to make them stand out, and she says they typically recommend a car that comes in navy blue. The decals need an open space on the side of the car, but some models have too many angles and are too small for that.
“Even when the car is in a parking lot, it is still representing the brand,” says Roberts, who argues that the vehicle used for franchises can be a major differentiator compared to independent maid service companies. There is a level of professionalism and consistency to using the same vehicle.
The Great Toilet Paper Debate
At Molly Maid, a residential maid service with an office off Shipyard Boulevard, employees place the toilet paper in the over position, said owner Noreen McKenna.
“I think it’s the right way,” she said. “The last thing (employees) do is corner the toilet paper so it’s easier for the customer to pull.”
How to Clean Blinds: The Good Day Way
Steve McMahan, owner of Molly Maid of Greater Fort Worth and North Arlington, was interviewed on KDFW-Fox 4 – Dallas-Fort Worth to give some tips on cleaning blinds and keeping your windows dirt-free.
“Many people think feathers or nylon are the best ways to remove dust. You can not beat a dampened microfiber cloth. Grab the corner of the cloth and let it hang freely. Lightly mist the cloth with clean water from a spray bottle. Be sure to mist the cloth, not blinds-it makes a mess if blinds are sprayed directly.”
